Michelle Knight is a mother, wife, world traveler and storyteller. She is also a Branding and Business Coach and the founder of Brandmerry.com. She works with female entrepreneurs who are struggling to gain visibility and traction in taking their business to the next level and supports them in tapping into their story to create a standout brand and message that positions them as an expert in their industry. In just 9 months. Michelle launched her freedom-based business and left her 9 to 5 while raising a new baby. Just one year into her coaching business, Michelle created a 6-figure business and thriving community of women ready to share their story. Now she spends her time supporting women to achieve time, financial and location freedom while traveling the world with her little family of three and exploring life with her son.
I like to say my business is as old as my son. The reality is just a few weeks after having my first child, I decided to set out on this entrepreneur journey as a way for me to leave my 9 to 5 and create more time, financial and location freedom.
The truth is after having my son I felt like I didn’t really know who I was anymore. Knowing what I know now this was a transitional period for me as I stepped into the role of mompreneur and ultimately rediscovered myself in the process.
For the next 9 months I juggled raising a brand new baby, working a 9 to 5 and getting my business up and running and in the beginning I made a bunch of mistakes. However, it was one of my biggest mistakes that ended up being the most beneficial learning lesson in my business (funny how that works isn’t it?).
Maybe you’ve felt this way when starting your business? You have an idea so you go into full research mode to try to see what everyone else, who is successful of course, is doing. I did it too and in the process I created a brand and business I wasn’t proud of. I had once again lost myself and as a result I didn’t feel a connection to my brand and in no way wanted to share it with the world.
After this big smack in the face I had a moment of looking inward. Rather than seeing what everyone else was doing and getting stuck in their story I looked at my own.
Identifying my three biggest transitions, one of which was the birth of my son, and starting to gain clarity on the mission behind my brand gave me new life. I started increasing my visibility, people started to actually respond to what I was saying and suddenly my community began to grow.
As a result I was starting to step more and more into my worth not only as a entrepreneur and coach, but also into my role as a mother, wife and woman.
And that’s the thing so many entrepreneurs miss when it comes to branding, they miss the storywork, and storywork is so important.
At the end of the day don’t you want to feel PROUD of your brand?
Don’t you want to continuously shout it from the rooftops?
Don’t you want to SEE yourself in your brand and business?
Your brand is the beating heart of your business and it needs the same love and attention you give the other pieces, and I just bet that if you focus more on what’s already inside you, you’ll experience unexpected growth like you never imagined.
By stepping into my story and sharing my voice with the world I’ve been able to create the life of freedom I think I always knew was possible, but wasn’t quite sure how to get - turns out it was inside me the entire time.
And I bet it’s inside you as well!
