3 Lessons From This Past Year
Dear darling,
This past weekend, I celebrated my birthday! I loved reflecting back on some lessons I learned this past year...
Purpose over Passion
If I've learned one thing this year, it's that passion is fleeting. To live a life you love, you need to know your deeply rooted "why". You know, the reason for why you're here? How you're going to give back to the world? How are you going to make an impact?
I've always known deep down inside that my why is to help and serve other with my talents. It's okay if you're why is a bit general, you'll figure out the details later.
Passion is defined as "strong and barely controllable emotion." Emotions are temporary. You're passion for something can easily fade but purpose is "the reason for which something is done." When you know your deeper why in stating a business, blog, etc...that mission never fades.
Hold on tight onto your WHY!
Persist
When you're on a mission to live out your "why", you're bound to get knocked down. When that time comes...PERSIST, PERSIST, PERSIST. Don't give up. Life isn't meant to be easy!
You'll be glad you persisted, regret is a nasty demon.
Surround yourself with the right people
In those moments when you think you can't persist anymore, the right people will lift you up!
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
- J I M R O H N
Choose wisely, darling. The people you surround yourself with can really make or break who you are.
Surround yourself with people who believe in you, who support you, and who are for you!
I don't know what this new year of life will hold but I'm excited to keep growing and learning more from this amazing thing called life!
Cheers,
